Overview of the UI Designer role at Global Relay within its enterprise applications space. The UI Designer focuses on visually guiding the user through a product’s interface across web, desktop and mobile, creating high-fidelity mock-ups, iconography, UI illustration and other graphic assets. You will work with other UI/UX Designers, Product Managers and Engineering teams in an agile environment from concept to delivery to help define product vision and improve the design system.
Responsibilities
- Design and evolve the look and feel of Global Relay's visual language
- Follow a human-centered design approach and adhere to UX best practices
- Apply principles of layout, typography, visual hierarchy and motion design
- Deliver pixel-perfect graphic assets that are aesthetically vibrant
- Lead and create user interfaces that are sleek and easy to use
- Translate high-level requirements and interaction flows into intuitive UIs
- Communicate design ideas within the UX team and with non-creative stakeholders
- Develop storyboards, wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes
- Design and document new components and interaction patterns for the Design System
- Ensure designs meet WCAG and WAI-ARIA accessibility standards
- Adhere to existing patterns and apply consistency
- Identify opportunities for UI improvement or differentiation
- Facilitate workshops for cross-team alignment on new standards
- Support engineers in building the design system
- Measure and monitor component performance
- Champion and uphold a solid UI practice and be accountable for UI output
- Collaborate with engineering teams to test and iterate on interface design
- Guide engineering through build and QA processes
- Collaborate with other UI/UX designers to solve complex workflows
- Coach and support junior UI designers
About you
- 5+ years of experience in visual/UI design for web, desktop and mobile
- Portfolio of relevant UI design work from shipped products/apps/services
- Bachelor's degree in a design-related discipline is preferable
- Strong understanding of user-centred design practices
- Solid typography and colour theory knowledge
- Ability to create icons, illustrations and other assets for the web
- Ability to create and iterate on high-fidelity mock-ups
- Ability to create high-fidelity prototypes to communicate motion and transitions
- Clear verbal and visual communication of UI ideas
- Ownership mindset and creative problem-solving
- Experience with design systems and component libraries
- Knowledge of responsive and mobile design guidelines
- Knowledge of accessibility best practices
- Proficiency with tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Sketch
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment
- Motion design experience is an asset
- Experience in an enterprise environment and Agile is an asset
