We are currently looking for a skilled Technician to work with one of our clients on a number of different sites in and around the Midlands and potentially the south of England. The client is a well-established and respected provider of rail rolling stock engineering and train presentation solutions to train operators and manufacturers worldwide.
Working alongside the client’s own staff, the role will include carrying out general maintenance work on rail rolling stock. The main duties will include fault finding and fault rectification together with the replacement of parts and some testing/basic inspection. In addition, there may be an element of supervision and leading a multi-disciplinary team.
The successful applicants will be experienced technicians with a recognised relevant qualification in an electrical discipline with some basic mechanical experience. An NVQ Level III or equivalent is preferred, although consideration will also be given to applicants with a level II qualification with substantial work experience.
Previous experience of working with rail rolling stock or equipment with similar complex electrical systems in a safety critical environment is essential, as is some supervisory experience. The work could involve working on different sites and possibly shifts as and when the trains become available, which could include nights. It may involve working Saturdays and Sundays; as such, applicants must be able to work weekends.
