We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join a client in Manchester on a temporary‑to‑permanent basis. The company is a respected provider of specialist equipment to train manufacturers and operating companies across the UK and overseas.

Responsibilities

  • Electrical and mechanical maintenance of equipment at the site, with a bias toward electrical engineering and PLC programming.
  • Planned Maintenance – collaborate with the Maintenance and Test Team Leader on the planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedule for all key pieces of equipment.
  • Work closely with the production team on continuous improvement activities across all site processes.
  • Develop and lead a TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) strategy for the site, including automation of OEE and machine condition monitoring linking to Industry 4.0 technologies.
  • Maintenance and repair of all site infrastructure, machines, tooling, buildings and equipment.
  • Maintain all machines and equipment, tooling, buildings and infrastructure.
  • Operate the dynamometer test cell.
  • Process improvement work across the site.
  • Write and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the site.
  • Ensure continuity of activities with production operators and other maintenance engineers across shifts.
  • Track OEE, machine utilisation and PPM schedule adherence using the online system.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience in a similar maintenance role with a proven track record in electrical maintenance.
  • Experience with drives, controls, HMIs and hydraulic equipment maintenance.
  • Experience in PLC programming and electrical engineering tasks.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement (TPM, OEE).
  • Holding a recognised qualification, ideally at HNC level or equivalent.
  • Preferably familiar with the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and basic AutoCAD.
  • Ability to work a day shift.
