We are currently looking for an experienced Mechanical Draughtsperson to join one of our clients on a permanent basis. This role is based in their purpose-built premises in Hinckley, Leicestershire, and involves providing design and drafting support to the engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Producing engineering drawings for use in the manufacturing phase.
- Preparing 3D Creo, SolidWorks and 2D AutoCAD models, and generating drawings within budgeted hours.
- Ensuring all drawings comply with the company’s CAD standards and procedures.
- Assisting in product design to meet specific customer requirements while ensuring the lowest cost functional design.
- Managing the outsourced CAD drawing process with the company’s other engineering and design offices overseas.
- Liaising with the UK supply chain and overseas teams on drawing-related queries for live projects.
- Creating manufacturing drawings from 3D models for release to production at the nominated supplier.
- Co‑ordinating with the UK team on supplier drawing queries and working with overseas teams on outsourced projects.
Qualifications
- Minimum qualification of an HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Proven experience in drafting roles using AutoCAD, Creo, MicroStation and/or SolidWorks.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, including light/medium gauge fabrication and paint/finishing.
- Experience producing drawings that meet company standards and customer requirements.
- Previous experience with fluid dynamics and/or acoustics is advantageous but not essential.
- Willingness to undertake some UK and overseas travel.
