PURPOSE
The Employee Relations Specialist will guide and support managers on a range of ER Issues, coaching them on how to handle cases confidently and compliantly. Utilising your knowledge of UK employment legislation, policy and best practice to guide and advise line managers through a range of ER cases, ensuring you offer a value-added advisory service on all people management matters.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coaching and upskilling managers on ER Issues, supporting them through various situations including grievances, disciplinaries, conduct, absence management and performance.
- Provide advice confidently based on a sound understanding of the organisation’s HR policies, procedures and best practice.
- Meet with team members/managers to document employee relations activities including absence, discipline, performance, absence management, and flexible working options.
- Identify ER trends and provide recommendations to address repeat issues.
- Ensure all employee documentation is accurate, validated and meets legal requirements.
- Preparing documentation for employment tribunal as and when required.
- Answer employee ER questions on HR policies, practices, procedures and programs.
- Support managers to understand learning and training needs of their employees and coach them to have honest conversations with their people about their strengths, limitations, development needs and career aspirations.
- Work closely with HR colleagues across the business to monitor, review and update HR policies in line with current legislation and best practice.
- Effectively maintain accurate employee information manually or in a Human Resources Information System.
- Effectively prioritise and complete workload in accordance with specified timescales.

- Strong understanding of employment law and best practices.
- Listening, engaging and advisory skills.
- Ability to communicate with a range of people at varying levels.
- Strong relationship building skills.
- Ability to work to strict deadlines and prioritise cases and workload.
- Proven track record as an experienced ER Specialist.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum CIPD Level 5 qualification.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an HR Advisor or HR Generalist in a Corporate arena.
- Experience working within HR function.
