Accounting Associate I (6 months fixed term)

Reporting to the Financial/ Accounting Consultant, the Accounts Assistant will be responsible for supporting the Reporting and financial management of TSYS’s activities in Europe.
The Accounts Assistant will be concerned with the collection, analysis and presentation of financial data, to both internal and external parties, including but not limited to Internal Management, Accounting and Finance colleagues in the US, external auditors and with tax authorities.
General Accounting
- Support for Balance Sheet management, including preparation and verification of Balance Sheet reconciliations. (using electronic reconciliation system, ARCS)
- Preparation of accruals and prepayment journal entries as part of month end close.
- General ledger journal preparation and entry into Oracle Fusion.
- Month end variance analysis for smaller legal entities.
- Assist as necessary for accounting for corporate card spend transactions. (Certify system).
- Assist with collating and analysing data to identify intercompany billing.
- Drive continuous improvements in processes through improved use of technology/systems and use of best industry practice.
Regulatory Compliance
- Support preparation of VAT returns for international entities (Dutch, German and UK)
- Support for annual Statutory Audits
General
- Build and maintain relationships with Finance teams across the Global Payments group of companies
- Attend regular meetings with line manager to review job status and personal development.
- Actively participate in the 4 Talks personal development scheme under the guidance of line manager.
- Client card scheme Settlement Funding – to provide cover for colleagues’ holidays.
- UK BACS – provide cover for colleagues’ holidays.
- Any other tasks commensurate with the job.
Required Skills and Experience:
Essential:
- Knowledge of VAT
- Educated to at least ‘O’ level/GCSE standard in Maths and English Language or equivalent.
- Proven experience in the use of Microsoft Office Tools, particularly Excel.
- The ability to prioritise a busy workload and progress several lines of work at the same time.
- Flexibility of working hours and willingness to travel to different sites if needed.
- Good time management skills.
- The ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels within the company and with clients.
- Effective problem solving abilities.
- Proven ability to give attention to detail
Desirable:
- Google Suite product experience (GMail, GChat, GMeet, GDrive, GSheets, GDocs)
- Experience of using Oracle Fusion, Oracle Smartview
