As the Development Assurance Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our delivery partners consistently adhere to our development processes, standards, and quality expectations. You will act as the bridge between internal product teams and external vendors and technical partnerships, fostering alignment, accountability, and continuous improvement across all development activities. You will demonstrate a strong commitment to quality, consistency, and collaborative practice.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring compliance with development, security, AI ethics, and governance standards across all projects, thereby reducing late-stage risks and strengthening leadership's confidence through clear, data-driven assurance reporting.
Key accountabilities:
- Monitor and enforce adherence to internal development standards, frameworks, and governance models.
- Conduct regular audits, reviews, and assessments of partner deliverables to ensure quality and compliance.
- Develop and maintain assurance frameworks and checklists tailored to different partnership models.
- Act as a bridge between delivery partners and other functional areas, including quality assurance, technical delivery, and product management.
- Identify gaps and opportunities in current development practices to streamline workflows, enhance productivity & improve quality and propose actionable improvements.
Stakeholder Liaison:
- Serve as the primary point of contact between internal product groups and delivery partners, fostering and nurturing relationships to harness collaborative joint delivery for project delivery, acting as point of escalation when required.
- Facilitate clear and consistent communication of requirements expectations and feedback.
- Resolve conflicts and misalignments between internal and external stakeholders in a timely and constructive manner.
- Conduct stakeholder meetings on a regular basis and prepare status reports that are accessible and informative for all relevant parties.
- Partner with stakeholders to explore innovative solutions that align with BDO's strategic objectives and market trends.
- Foster a mindset of experimentation and exploration within development partners to cultivate creative problem-solving and innovation, such as the use of AI within coding.
Continuous Improvement:
- Collaborate with internal teams to refine standards and processes based on lessons learned and evolving needs.
- Support onboarding of technical partners to ensure understanding of our development ecosystem.
- Stay informed on emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies to drive innovation within the development function.
Reporting & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of assurance activities, findings, and resolutions.
- Provide regular reports to leadership on partner performance, risks, and compliance status.
- Develop and contribute to the development of internal process and standards documentation and guidance materials.
Project Delivery:
- Collaborate with the Technical Delivery (TD), Project Management Office (PMO), Product Ownership (PO) and IT Architecture teams to align development priorities with strategic goals.
- Oversee development team capacity and resource allocation to ensure timely and efficient delivery of projects.
- Monitor development progress, identify potential risks or delay, and implement corrective actions to maintain project timelines and deliverables.
Qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years in a management role.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex software solutions in a collaborative, agile environment.
- Own and maintain assurance framework aligned to Agile/DevOps and waterfall delivery models.
- Excellent written, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working with external vendors/technical partners is essential.
- Ability to analyse complex technical documentation and identify gaps or risks.
- Background in Development is not essential but a plus.
