The predicted salary is between 750 - 750 £ per month.

Location: Quetzaltenango, Guatemala

Duration: Minimum 2 weeks

Cost: GBP 750 regardless of length; includes all food, accommodation, pre-departure and in-country support, orientation and all project related activities. Does not include flights, travel insurance, personal spending, visas and vaccinations.

What you will do:

  • Work alongside local professionals in the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, nutrition and project management.
  • Choose projects working with a range of ages, from toddlers to young mothers.
  • Flexible placement, tailored according to your interests and abilities.
  • Immerse yourself in local life with optional home-stays. Other accommodation options also available.
  • Receive dedicated support with our teams based in both the UK and Guatemala.
  • Discover optional excursions to volcanoes, waterfalls and colourful colonial towns.
  • Learn Spanish with 25 x pre-departure lessons included.

Projects and Learning:

Projects range from disease screening of indigenous families to assessing the nutritional level of malnourished local children. There are opportunities to focus on health education, including setting up personal hygiene workshops to prevent health problems. Volunteers work closely with local professionals and have opportunities to learn about the local Guatemalan communities’ way of life. Volunteers are encouraged to collaborate their skills with charity staff and to develop community-based healthcare projects. 25 x pre-departure Spanish lessons are included to help immersion.

Known as the 'Land of Eternal Spring', Guatemala has unparalleled natural and cultural beauty and also suffers from high malnutrition and infant mortality rates.
