Our professional photographers will guide you through the Garden Route, sharing their expertise and helping you produce stunning photographs of Africa\’s diverse wildlife and travel scenery. In addition to photography, our comprehensive course includes training in setting up your own business, ensuring financial stability, writing business plans, and effective marketing strategies. The Experience
Your journey in wildlife documentary filmmaking will be guided by a renowned environmental and media company that specializes in bringing attention to African environmental issues. With a commitment to unique perspectives and compelling narratives, this company collaborates with a diverse range of clients, from broadcasters and corporations to NGOs and media outlets. You\’ll also have the chance to delve into underwater photography, broadening your skill set and creative potential.
Throughout your 4-week experience, you will develop, film, and edit your own captivating wildlife documentary set in an African game reserve. This intensive program is designed to equip you with the specific skills and expertise required for various roles in documentary production, including camera operation, directing, producing, scriptwriting, and broadcasting. By the end of the course, you will have created a 5-minute documentary film showcasing your abilities and kickstarting your career in the competitive wildlife filmmaking industry.
The program is structured with a balance of theoretical and practical learning, beginning and ending in Mossel Bay for pre-production and post-production work. The heart of the course is a 9-day immersive experience living on a reserve, where you will be fully engaged in capturing the wonders of the African wilderness on film. This unparalleled hands-on experience will provide you with the foundation and confidence necessary to break into the world of wildlife documentary filmmaking.
Logistics
Your home away from home will be a local Guesthouse located nearby. Nestled within the picturesque Aalwyndal community, the guesthouse offers stunning views of the surrounding Outeniqua Mountains and the ocean, allowing you to truly immerse yourself in South Africa\’s natural beauty.
The guesthouse features 8 bedrooms, providing ample space for students to relax and unwind after a day of filmmaking. You will also have access to living rooms, dining rooms, balconies, and work offices, ensuring you have everything you need to make the most of your time in South Africa.
The cost of the programme is 5000 for the 4 week course.
