Your new role: Global is looking for a commercially minded senior lawyer to play a key role in supporting our commercial, marketing and events teams. You’ll work alongside another Senior Legal Counsel and collaborate with others in the team to deliver consistent, high-quality, strategic and legal advice across Global’s advertising business, partnerships, talent engagements, events and brand-led campaigns.
As Senior Legal Counsel at Global, you will:
- Be a trusted advisor to a range of stakeholders, enabling innovative and high-profile activity while managing risk in a practical and solutions‑led way. You’ll work closely with the Head of Legal and Legal Director as well as business leaders across the commercial, marketing and events teams to support the delivery of Global’s strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial & Advertising (30%): Provide high-quality, day-to-day legal support on Global’s commercial activity across audio, digital, outdoor and DAX. Draft and negotiate a wide range of agreements including advertising agreements, agency terms, sponsorship agreements and platform partnerships.
- Marketing, talent and partnerships (30%): Provide clear, commercially focused advice on marketing campaigns, brand collaborations and the engagement of talent. Draft and negotiate talent agreements, brand partnerships, content licences and promotional terms, ensuring compliance with relevant regulation and protecting Global’s reputation.
- Events & Entertainment (30%): Support Global’s market-leading events and branded entertainment activities (including flagship shows like Capital’s Summertime Ball and Classic FM Live). Advise on event-related agreements such as artist bookings, venue hire agreements, production and supplier contracts, and ticketing terms.
- Governance and ways of working (10%): Develop and maintain templates, guidance and training to improve consistency, efficiency and risk management. Take ownership of your matters end-to-end and manage priorities effectively while aligning with the wider legal team’s approach. Embrace and support the use of legal technology and AI tools to improve efficiency, consistency and quality of output, whilst applying appropriate judgement and governance.

What You’ll Need
- Qualified lawyer with relevant experience: 5 years’ PQE+ (flexible depending on experience) with strong commercial contracts experience gained in private practice and/or in-house.
- Commercial & media expertise: Experience advising on advertising, media, marketing and/or entertainment matters, including drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements.
- Events, talent & partnerships experience: Familiarity with talent agreements, sponsorship, brand partnerships and event-related contracts.
- Strong drafting skills: Excellent drafting and negotiation skills across commercial agreements, with the ability to balance legal risk and commercial objectives.
- Pragmatic, solutions-led approach: Able to provide clear, concise and commercial advice in a fast-paced environment.
- Stakeholder influence: Confident working with senior stakeholders, able to explain risk clearly and support decision-making without blocking progress.
- Organisation & Prioritisation: Strong matter management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and competing priorities.
