Your Role:
We're looking for a talented video editor who lives and breathes YouTube to work across Capital’s new video formats. You’ll understand the difference between a video people watch and a video people can't stop watching. You'll be obsessed with making video content: nailing the hook, building tension and pace, and injecting personality into every edit.
You'll work across Capital’s YouTube video formats, from big artist interviews to format-led entertainment series; shaping raw footage into polished, high-performing videos that feel unmistakably Capital. This is primarily an editing role where you’ll also provide support during the shooting and ideation of the content.
Key Responsibilities
- Editing & Post-Production (60%)
- Edit original content for YouTube and social platforms, maintaining Capital's tone, pacing and brand identity.
- Identify standout moments from long-form recordings for compelling short-form clips, planning for them at the scripting stage.
- Collaborate with the Capital digital team and YouTube Channel Manager on thumbnails, titles and cold opens that maximise clicks and watch time.
- Subtitle all video content to platform standards.
- Respond to notes and feedback from Channel Managers and Content Leads, iterating quickly and effectively.
- Use analytics and audience insights to continuously refine edits, test new approaches and share performance learnings with the wider team.
- Shooting & Production (20%)
- Shoot video content across a range of formats, from studio recordings to live moments and on-location shoots.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of framing, lighting and camera operation to capture high-quality footage.
- Work closely with producers and presenters on set to ensure the right material is captured for post-production.
- Adapt quickly across different production environments, from high-production shoots to fast-turnaround social content.
- Creative Ideation & Support (20%)
- Contribute to creative brainstorms, bringing an editor's perspective on what works visually and structurally.
- Monitor trends, cultural moments and platform behaviour to pitch ideas that drive views and engagement.
- Support producers in developing formats and storytelling approaches that are built to perform in the edit.
- Help research and shape scripts and interview structures with a YouTube-first, retention-focused mindset.
What You'll Love About This Role
- Think Big: Shape the look and feel of content seen by millions across one of the UK's biggest entertainment brands.
- Own It: Take raw footage through to polished, platform-ready output, and see your edits drive real results.
- Keep It Simple: Focus on sharp cuts, strong hooks and formats that hold attention.
- Better Together: Work closely with producers, presenters and digital teams to make content that genuinely stands out.
What Success Looks Like
In your first few months, you’ll have:
- Edited some of our biggest formats and shows, with several hit videos under your belt.
- Grown views and engagement across our YouTube and social channels.
- Followed and refined our edit style across video formats.
- Embedded smoothly into workflows and communicated effectively across teams.
- Used performance data to shape content decisions and drive measurable growth.
What You’ll Need
- Familiarity with Capital video output, audience and voice.
- A deep interest in pop culture and internet culture.
- Strong editing experience in Adobe Premiere Pro & After Effects, with the ability to create static assets in Photoshop or Canva.
- A storytelling mindset with a deep understanding of YouTube viewing behaviour and audience retention.
- Strong editorial judgment about what's right for the brand, talent and audience.
- Experience publishing and scheduling on socials, and optimising content using analytics.
- Confidence contributing creative ideas and collaborating across teams.
- Flexible, a great communicator, and a good sense of humour.
