Job Title: Diagnostic Radiographer We have a vacancy for an enthusiastic, ambitious diagnostic radiographer to join our friendly and forward-thinking Radiology team. Key Responsibilities: Undertake all clinical work on rotation through the department under the direction of the lead radiographers, maintaining high clinical standards throughout. Act as the lead radiographer in the general X-ray area and on-call, effectively coordinating patient throughput while supervising the radiographic and student team. Reduce patient radiation dose during examinations through collimation and careful positioning. Take responsibility for actions as per IR(ME)R and IRR99, staying updated with standards and guidelines. Observe department DRL and DIL, report excess doses and radiation incidents to the Radiation physics service and via Datix. Undertake departmental training and accept advice and instruction as necessary. Seek advice from a modality lead when faced with new or unusual situations, especially when it may be necessary to refuse a patient’s examination request. Ensure competency sheets are signed off promptly and maintain competency in all signed-off areas. Perform complex CT scans independently or during out-of-hours shifts, including IV cannulation and safe administration of iodinated contrast media.
