As the UK Marine Operations Lead you will contribute to successful service delivery for the Marine Operations Business Stream in line with the company strategy. This will involve delegated responsibility for ensuring delivery of high quality and profitable services to internal and external clients and for assisting with the development and maintenance of client relationships, identifying opportunities, bidding for and managing work for the UK Marine Operations team. The role will involve travel, sometimes at short notice, to attend projects and client meetings.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Carry out marine operations projects with responsibility for technical, quality, safety, schedule and commercial delivery.
- Provide a professional and effective interface with clients and stakeholders including colleagues, suppliers and approval/assurance providers.
- Develop project methods, procedures and manuals for marine operations or undertake quality assurance of methods, manuals and procedures developed by others.
- Monitor and manage contractual performance with clients and suppliers, including monitoring scope against contract and ensuring variation orders are prepared and maintained on a timely basis.
- Manage procurement and deployment of resources (personnel, consumables & equipment).
- Support the business development team to identify, document and pursue new and existing business opportunities for Marine Operations to achieve growth targets.
- Actively cross‑sell Global Maritime’s full range of business stream services.
- Assist with the coordination and preparation of UK Marine Operations work scope proposals, including revenue, cost, resource and schedule estimation, and identification and management of technical, commercial and contractual risk.
- Participate in raising GM’s external profile through preparation of social media feeds, articles and presentations at industry events.
- Assist with the oversight of the technical and service delivery of the marine operations team, ensuring compliance with the business management system and attainment of service line quality, health and safety, financial targets and other KPIs.
- Liaise with business stream directors, leads and other GM offices worldwide to win and deliver global projects using the most appropriate resources.
- Assist in forecasting Marine Operations workload, in planning, selection and deployment of resources (personnel and suppliers) to deliver the business.
- Assist with recruitment initiatives to ensure the team is resourced with appropriate capacity, skills and experience according to the budget.
- Participate in the development of new services and initiatives to improve GM’s capability and competitiveness.
- Actively seek and record client feedback and opportunities for improvement in safety, quality and environmental performance.
Specific Skills, Knowledge and Experience required
- Either seagoing experience as Master or degree qualified in naval architecture or another relevant engineering subject, with extensive transport and installation experience in the offshore oil, gas and/or renewable energy industries.
- Extensive experience in the delivery of marine operations including towage and hookup/disconnect of floating assets, and transport and installation of subsea assets.
- Experience in project management.
- Knowledge and experience in management of contract and commercial risk.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of regulatory marine requirements, industry standards, practices, guidelines and methodologies.
- Experience in providing and selling consultancy/advisory services, ideally with people‑management experience.
- Capability to produce high quality documentation in the form of technical reports.
- Right to live and work in the United Kingdom and medically fit.
