Global Recruitment Group is recruiting on behalf of our client, a growing, family-run accountancy practice in Bishops Stortford, for a fully qualified Senior Bookkeeper to join their supportive and close-knit team.
Salary: Up to £35,000 per year

About the Client
Our client is a well-established, family-run accountancy practice providing bookkeeping, payroll, and full accountancy services to a loyal and growing client base. As the business continues to expand, they are seeking a fully qualified bookkeeper who values autonomy, teamwork, and long-term career stability. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting clients and shaping the future of the practice.
The Role
The successful candidate will be an experienced bookkeeper with at least 5 years experience in practice or industry, capable of managing their own client portfolio while collaborating within a supportive team environment.
- Manage a portfolio of clients end-to-end, including bookkeeping, VAT, management accounts, and payroll
- Prepare year-end Trial Balance
- Communicate directly with clients, providing clear advice and support
- Support, guide, and mentor junior team members
- Assist with client onboarding and ensure smooth transitions for new clients
- Manage payroll for clients (PAYE, pensions, CIS)
- Contribute ideas and initiatives to support the growth of the practice
- Collaborate closely with colleagues in a team-focused environment
- Work both from the Bishops Stortford office and occasionally on-site with clients
- Attend occasional local networking or business events to support the practice's profile
About You
- Fully qualified ICB, AAT or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years experience in a UK accountancy practice or industry role
- Confident with cloud accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, FreeAgent etc.)
- Strong communication and client relationship skills
- Comfortable working on-site with clients when required
- Well-organised, reliable, and able to work independently
- Enjoys mentoring and supporting junior team members
- Team-focused and contributes to a positive working culture
