An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a dynamic, growing organisation headquartered in Inverness. We are looking for a Trainee Accountant who is eager to develop their career in finance within a supportive and fast‑paced environment. This role offers the chance to gain hands‑on experience across a wide range of finance functions, work alongside experienced professionals, and grow your skills toward professional qualifications such as ATT or ACCA/CIMA. Key Responsibilities
- Supporting month‑end close, including preparation and posting of journal
- Assisting with the preparation of quarterly and annual budgets
- Matching, coding, and processing invoices and credit notes against valid purchase orders
- Completing supplier statement reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
- Processing company credit card reports and ensuring compliance with company policy
- Preparing draft VAT returns for review by senior finance staff
- Responding to supplier queries in a timely and professional manner
- Liaising with finance managers to obtain invoice approvals where required
- Ensuring full compliance with company policies, financial procedures, and internal controls
Skills, Experience & Attributes
- Previous experience in a finance or accounts administration role
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (desirable)
- Studying towards ACCA or a similar professional qualification (desirable)
- Strong numerical ability with excellent attention to detail
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines effectively
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Proactive, self‑motivated, and keen to develop within a finance career
