The Spaceport in Shetland is seeking a talented and passionate Rotational Sous Chef to join our team and play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional dining experiences for our team, partners, and visitors. As the sous chef, you will be responsible for assisting in the management of the kitchen, overseeing meal preparation, maintaining high culinary standards, and contributing to the growth of the spaceport's culinary offerings. This is a unique opportunity to work in an exciting, innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Chef in the smooth running of the kitchen
  • Lead and inspire the kitchen team, ensuring food preparation and service are executed to the highest standards
  • Oversee menu planning and food sourcing, maintaining a focus on quality and sustainability
  • Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are met and upheld
  • Manage kitchen operations during rotational periods, maintaining consistency and quality in all meals served
  • Work collaboratively with the front-of-house team to ensure seamless service delivery
  • Maintain inventory and control stock levels to minimize waste and maximize efficiency

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within a fast-paced environment
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • A passion for quality food, with a keen eye for detail
  • Excellent knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a rotational, remote location
  • A positive, proactive attitude and strong communication skills
  • Previous experience in remote or specialized locations is a plus
