The Role Working as part of a small, supportive team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the site's plant and equipment.
This is a varied role that requires flexibility, with duties including plant operation, cleaning, basic maintenance, and the operation of mobile plant, ensuring all tasks are carried out safely and to a high standard.
Initially, the role will focus on energy plant operations, with opportunities for further training and the chance to work across other areas of the site as business needs require.
Key Responsibilities Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Promote a positive health and safety culture by leading through example.
- Follow all company health, safety and environmental policies, procedures and safe working practices.
- Take personal responsibility for maintaining a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues. Plant & Equipment Operation
- Safely operate a range of site machinery and mobile plant following appropriate training.
- Load and unload vehicles efficiently and safely.
- Operate loading shovels to move wood fibre, pellets and other materials.
- Use forklifts and telehandlers to support a variety of operational tasks across the site.
- Carry out routine cleaning and basic operational maintenance as required. Operational Performance & Quality
- Maintain high quality standards across all aspects of plant operations.
- Monitor stock levels and ensure materials are managed effectively.
- Identify opportunities to improve production processes and work collaboratively with management to increase efficiency.
- Work closely with the maintenance team to support planned maintenance activities and minimise downtime.
- Report any operational issues or concerns promptly to the Team Leader.
- Contribute positively during team meetings, sharing ideas to improve production, maintenance and health & safety performance.
- Participate fully in training and development opportunities provided by the company. Record Keeping
- Complete production and operational records accurately and on time.
- Carry out and record daily pre-use inspections of mobile plant and equipment.
About You We're looking for someone who is reliable, safety-conscious, and enjoys a hands-on working environment.
You will ideally have
- Experience operating machinery or industrial plant (preferred but not essential)
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to follow work instructions accurately and work safely
- A practical, flexible approach with a willingness to learn
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a small team
- A willingness to operate mobile plant (full training will be provided)
- A full, clean driving licence (preferred)
- A strong awareness of health and safety for yourself and those around you Physical Requirements This role is suited to someone who is comfortable working in an industrial environment and is able to:
