Our client is seeking an Environmental Advisor to provide environmental advice and support across their project and wider business activities, ensuring compliance with legislation, permits and company environmental standards.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental legislation, company policies and Development Consent Order (DCO) requirements.
- Manage Siltbuster systems and ensure water discharges remain within EA permitted limits.
- Carry out environmental audits, inspections and risk assessments.
- Develop, implement and maintain Environmental Management Systems (EMS).
- Advise on waste management, pollution prevention and resource efficiency.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and manage permits and reporting via the Principal Contractor.
- Deliver environmental training and toolbox talks to site teams.
- Lead investigations into environmental incidents and recommend corrective actions.
- Support achievement and maintenance of environmental certifications (e.g. ISO 14001).
- Report on environmental performance and recommend continuous improvements.
What We’re Looking For:
Knowledge & Experience
- Proven experience in an environmental role within utilities, construction or energy sectors.
- Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and ISO 14001.
- Experience conducting audits, inspections and environmental reporting.
- Experience managing Siltbusters and water discharge controls.
Skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively with project teams.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
Qualifications
- Third-level environmental qualification, NEBOSH Environmental or equivalent.
- Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or related discipline (desirable).
Other Requirements
- Valid CSCS card or equivalent and EUSR SHEA Power.
