Rotational General Maintenance SaxaVord Spaceport, Shetland Location: Shetland, SaxaVord Spaceport Position Type: Full-time, Rotational (3 weeks on, 3 weeks off) Salary: £12.00 per hour All travel fully paid Job Overview: This is a superb opportunity to be part of the UKs leading, and only operational Spaceport, where you will be part of the team who are making history every day! This role involves providing hands-on support with all general maintenance tasks across the SaxaVord Spaceport site. You will play a key part in ensuring the upkeep of facilities, contributing to the smooth running of operations, and assisting with activities that promote the overall success of SaxaVord Spaceport. Key Responsibilities: Report any safety hazards or potential risks to site management promptly. Operate tools for grass cutting and other tasks to ensure green spaces are well-maintained and free from obstructions. Perform basic painting duties on both internal and external structures. Assist contractors (electricians, plumbers, carpenters, etc.) with their tasks as directed by the Maintenance Manager. Follow task instructions provided by management. Participate in routine inspections and preventative maintenance, either working alongside the team or independently. Perform minor repairs, cleaning tasks, and installations as needed, based on skillset. Provide assistance to other functions when necessary. Work co-operatively as part of our essential maintenance team Engage in professional and personal development activities to build transferable skills. Key Skills & Competencies: Willingness to work in challenging weather conditions. Flexible to work a 3-week rotational shift and travel to Unst, Shetland. Eagerness to learn new skills and apply that knowledge to your daily tasks. Open to receiving feedback and using it to improve performance. Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships. Good initiative and common sense, particularly when working independently. Excellent attention to detail and a high level of pride in your work. Ability to interpret simple plans and repair manuals. Effective time management and organizational skills. Willingness to follow instructions and adhere to health and safety procedures. Ability to adapt in a dynamic environment with frequently changing priorities. A positive, \”can-do\” attitude. Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: Level 4 – Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework Previous experience in a similar maintenance role is highly desirable. Experience in dynamic, changing work environments is highly desirable. Familiarity with regulated environments where safety is critical is highly desirable.
