An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a dynamic, growing organisation headquartered in Inverness. We are looking for a Finance Assistant / Trainee Accountant who is eager to develop their career in finance within a supportive and fast-paced environment. This role offers the chance to gain hands-on experience across a wide range of finance functions, work alongside experienced professionals, and grow your skills toward professional qualifications such as ATT or ACCA/CIMA. Key Responsibilities
- Supporting month-end close, including preparation and posting of journal entries.
- Assisting with the preparation of quarterly and annual budgets.
- Matching, coding, and processing invoices and credit notes against valid purchase orders.
- Completing supplier statement reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.
- Processing company credit card reports and ensuring compliance with company policy.
- Preparing draft VAT returns for review by senior finance staff.
- Responding to supplier queries in a timely and professional manner.
- Liaising with finance managers to obtain invoice approvals where required.
- Ensuring full compliance with company policies, financial procedures, and internal controls.
Skills, Experience & Attributes
- Previous experience in a finance or accounts administration role.
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (desirable).
- Studying towards ACCA or a similar professional qualification (desirable).
- Strong numerical ability with excellent attention to detail.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines effectively.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and keen to develop within a finance career.
