Our client is looking for an Estimator to join their well established team in Inverness.
About the Role
As a key member of our clients commercial team, you will play a vital role in securing future work by preparing and submitting high-quality, competitive tenders. You will support business growth by expanding our client base, developing new opportunities, and strengthening relationships with existing customers, all while ensuring projects are secured on a profitable and sustainable basis.
Working closely with the Commercial Manager and senior leadership, you will contribute to establishing our client as a leading contractor across civil engineering, renewables, electrical infrastructure and road works, while supporting the continued development of our construction operations.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Tendering & Estimating
- Work as part of the Head Office commercial team supporting business development and tendering activity.
- Identify and respond to tender opportunities and requests to participate.
- Review tender documentation and report to the Commercial Manager on programme, scope, risks and opportunities to support bid/no-bid decisions.
- Process and manage all incoming tender documents accurately and efficiently.
- Upload and convert Bills of Quantities into internal estimating formats.
- Measure and take off quantities from drawings and specifications where required.
- Issue enquiries to suppliers and subcontractors and manage responses.
- Prepare detailed comparisons of supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Build up prices from first principles using internal rates and outputs.
- Compile complete tender submissions, including all supporting documentation.
- Present and review tender submissions with the Commercial Manager and senior team.
- Submit bids in full compliance with Invitation to Tender (ITT) requirements and deadlines.
- Respond to post-submission queries, clarifications and amendments from clients.
- On successful bids, lead handover meetings and prepare full tender packs for project delivery teams and commercial leads.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, suppliers, subcontractors, clients and consultants.
- Proactively identify and communicate commercial risks and opportunities to senior management.
- Support continuous improvement of tendering and estimating processes.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by the Director or Commercial Manager.
