Our client is a growing civil engineering and infrastructure contractor delivering high-quality projects across the Highlands and wider Scotland. Their work includes infrastructure, utilities, groundworks, and civil engineering projects supporting both private and public sector developments.

Due to continued growth and an expanding project portfolio, we are looking to recruit an experienced Setting Out Engineer to join their site team.

The Role

As a Setting Out Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure projects. Working closely with the Site Manager and project teams, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate setting out and maintaining quality standards across all site activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out setting out duties on civil engineering and infrastructure projects
  • Interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Establish site control points and maintain survey records
  • Ensure works are completed in accordance with project requirements and tolerances
  • Monitor quality of works and assist with QA documentation
  • Liaise with site teams, subcontractors, and project managers
  • Assist with site measurements and progress reporting
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Setting Out Engineer within civil engineering, infrastructure, or groundworks
  • Proficient in the use of surveying equipment such as GPS, Total Stations, and AutoCAD
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Full UK driving licence
  • CSCS card (preferred)

Desirable

  • Degree/HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience working on infrastructure, utilities, or road projects
  • Knowledge of QA processes and site documentation
