Fire & Security Systems Project Engineer – Installation and Commissioning

Job Purpose

  • Install and commission Fire systems and Fire related systems.
  • Supervise and oversee sites and projects whilst supervising colleagues or sub-contractors.
  • As a site supervisor, you will have knowledge of the codes of practice and construction safety regulations.
  • Interpret building plans and demonstrate exceptional leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills.
  • You will be meticulous and knowledgeable of fire / life safety and the associated standards / regulations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Installing, configuring, and commissioning Fire, Life Safety and Security systems.
  • Inspecting site(s) regularly to identify and eliminate potential safety hazards.
  • Recommending changes to project operations or procedures to increase efficiency.
  • Understanding of interconnectivity between various systems.
  • Testing and troubleshooting systems to ensure they are functioning properly.
  • Providing training to end-users on how to use systems.
  • Practice and always comply with safety standards.
  • Resolve systemic issues providing short, medium, and long-term solutions.

About You

  • Knowledge and experience of Notifier, GENT, Advanced, Apollo, Hochiki, Disabled Refuge, Disabled Alarm etc. Also, some CCTV/Intruder knowledge would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Previous experience in similar role or significant systems experience and looking to step up to a more senior role.
  • Sound knowledge of standards and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of construction sites, the tools and equipment.
  • The ability to interpret drawings.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • You will be conversant with various Fire and Life Safety systems.
  • Previous knowledge of Security systems would be of benefit.
  • You will also have experience of multiple communications protocols from differing manufacturers.
