An established building services consultancy with a strong international footprint across the UK, US, and Middle East is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer at Principal or Associate Director level to step into a 2iC (Second-in-Command) position. The role is based in Peterborough, with a hybrid working arrangement in place. You’ll work closely with senior leadership, take ownership of technical delivery, and play a visible role in shaping the future direction of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as 2iC to the Mechanical Director, supporting leadership and delivery
- Lead and review mechanical building services designs across complex projects
- Provide technical oversight, quality assurance, and design sign-off
- Engage directly with blue-chip clients and senior stakeholders
- Mentor and develop engineers within the mechanical team
- Support workload planning, resourcing, and delivery strategy
- Attend UK and international client meetings as required
