We’re looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to step into a fast-moving programme, supporting a client across lab fit-out works, with a clear pipeline into data centre projects. This is not a back-office design role. You will be hands-on technically, while also acting as the client’s eyes and ears to ensure designs are practical, coordinated, and deliverable.
What you’ll be doing:
- Leading mechanical design across live projects (RIBA stages / detailed design)
- Producing and reviewing mechanical design packages
- Coordinating with electrical, architectural, and specialist disciplines
- Supporting client workshops and technical discussions
- Carrying out design reviews, IOQs, and technical due diligence
- Ensuring designs are buildable and aligned to programme
- Supporting delivery from lab fit-out into data centre environments
What we’re looking for:
- Strong background in mechanical building services design
- Experience in complex environments (labs, data centres, mission critical)
- Able to operate both hands-on and in a client-facing capacity
- Confident challenging design and making technical decisions
- Available to start immediately (Monday 11th or sooner)
The setup:
- £400–£425/day (LTD)
- 3-month contract initially, likely to extend
- Flexible working. Remote, hybrid, or office (London or Peterborough)
- Site visits and client workshops required
