Director – Data Centres | UK Business Lead

Salary up to £200,000

You know the market. You have the relationships. Now lead the business.

An established global engineering consultancy is looking for a proven data centre work winner to lead its next stage of growth: building a successful UK data centre division.

The group already has deep technical expertise, international project experience and established delivery capability in the sector. Now it needs the right UK leader to translate that strength into new client relationships, project wins and a business that grows.

Your ability to bring clients to the table and secure their confidence will be central to this appointment.

Reporting directly to the board, you will have full P&L ownership and the autonomy to shape the division around the opportunities you develop. The international business will support early projects while you recruit and grow the UK team.

The priority: win work and build lasting accounts

We are looking for someone firmly established in the data centre market, with strong relationships across the people who commission, influence and award projects.

Someone who knows where opportunities are developing, can get in front of the right decision-makers and has the credibility to turn a conversation into an appointment.

You will be expected to bring a strong network and a credible route to winning work. Your track record should demonstrate personal involvement in securing projects, growing accounts and generating repeat business.

Alongside that commercial focus, you will:

• Set the UK division’s strategy, identifying the clients, markets and projects to pursue.
• Lead opportunities from initial introduction through bids, negotiations and appointment.
• Draw on the group’s global technical specialists and project experience to support work winning and delivery.
• Recruit and develop a UK team around a growing project pipeline.
• Maintain senior oversight of delivery, protecting client relationships and earning further work.
• Take full responsibility for the division’s P&L and report directly to the board on growth and performance.

The leader we need

You may come from a consultancy or contractor background. What matters is your standing in the sector, the strength of your relationships and your ability to win profitable work.

You will bring:

• An established network of senior data centre clients and decision-makers.
• A demonstrable record of personally winning work and developing key accounts.
• Deep technical understanding and the credibility to advise clients on complex projects.
• The commercial judgement to select the right opportunities and negotiate sustainable appointments.
• Experience building and leading teams, with accountability for business performance.
• The ambition and initiative to take ownership of a new division.

You could already be leading a data centre business, or be a successful director ready for the authority and backing to build one.

This opportunity combines the scope to shape a new UK division with the expertise and resources of an established international group.

You will have technical capability behind you from day one, direct access to the board and the freedom to develop the business around a clear commercial strategy.

The role is based in London with hybrid working and travel across the UK, Europe and potentially further afield. You will manage that travel autonomously around the clients and opportunities you pursue.

Salary up to £200,000 for the right person.
