About Us

Global Bay is a Bristol-based digital agency specialising in high-end, luxury websites for discerning clients. Our work spans luxury retail, hospitality, architecture, and property—delivering elegant digital experiences that drive real business results. From visually stunning designs to meticulous attention to detail, we’re known for sites that feel bespoke, refined, and intuitive.

We’re now looking for a skilled Digital Designer to join our small, ambitious team and bring that same standard of quality to our growing portfolio of projects.

---

What You’ll Do

  • Design beautiful, user-focused websites in Figma, tailored to high-end markets and aligned with client brand identities.
  • Collaborate closely with our creative director, developers, and project managers to ensure pixel-perfect handover and technical feasibility.
  • Interpret client briefs, moodboards, and brand guidelines into visually compelling and conversion-focused web designs.
  • Build clean, organised Figma files that are easy to work from and hand off.
  • Apply responsive design principles to ensure your layouts work elegantly across devices.
  • Participate in internal and client feedback sessions, iterating on designs with a thoughtful, constructive approach.

---

What You’ll Need

  • Expert-level Figma skills: this is a must. You know how to structure files, components, auto-layout, variants, and responsive frames inside and out.
  • A portfolio that showcases refined, high-end custom digital design work - we’re looking for taste, not templates.
  • A strong understanding of UX principles, accessibility, and web best practices.
  • Ability to interpret and elevate brand assets into premium digital experiences.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience designing for WordPress or Elementor is a plus (but not essential).

---

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to work on prestigious brands, elegant projects, and exciting brands in the luxury space.
  • Flexible working hours - we care more about quality than clock-watching.
  • A collaborative, friendly environment where great design is valued and championed.
  • The potential to grow with us into a more permanent or leadership design role if it’s a fit.

How to prepare for a job interview at Global Bay

✨Showcase Your Portfolio like a Pro

Your portfolio is your calling card, so make sure it’s not just pretty but also tells a story. Arrange your best UX/UI design projects in a way that highlights your thought process, problem-solving skills, and the impact of your work. Talk about the challenges you faced and how you tackled them—freelancers need to show they can handle real-world problems.

✨Use Design Tools Effectively

Familiarity with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, and Adobe XD is crucial in our field. Be ready to discuss your experience with these tools in real scenarios. They might ask specific technical questions about how you’d approach a design problem or your workflow, so brush up on those details and think of examples from your previous freelance projects.

✨Prepare for Client-Centric Questions

As a freelancer, you'll be client-facing, so expect questions about handling client feedback and managing expectations. Prepare examples of how you've dealt with difficult situations or miscommunications in previous projects. Your ability to communicate effectively with clients is a major selling point, and it’s worth stressing how well you can read and meet their needs.

✨Demonstrate Flexibility and Self-Management

Freelance work requires a lot of self-discipline and time management. Be prepared to discuss how you organise your time, juggle multiple clients, and prioritise tasks. Sharing how you've successfully managed deadlines and client relationships in the past can really set you apart from the competition and show that you're more than just a designer—you're a complete package.
