Overview
GEDU Global Education is a UK HQ\'d group of education businesses with campuses and partners including campus in Paris, GBS Malta, GBS Dubai, and APAC in Brisbane. GEDU also partners with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and is the host institution for CIFAL City of London (Centre International de Formation des Autorites et Leaders - International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders).
Main Purpose of the Role
This is a new role in a new team, being built by a recently appointed Managing Director for External Engagement and Sustainability to: - Secure recognition for GEDU Global Education as a leading, UK HQ\'d group of education businesses with an expanding global reach; - Support the public policy objectives of the individual group companies; - Showcase and develop the Group\'s work to support achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); and - Deliver GEDU\'s partnership with UNITAR.
The main purpose of the UK-based Advocacy Content and Sustainability Manager is to work across the group companies to: - build and communicate compelling advocacy, thought leadership and profile-building content, including related to the Group\'s work on the SDGs; - support the Managing Director and other senior colleagues to improve the Group\'s performance on sustainability matters; and - support the Managing Director in the design and delivery of a CIFAL City of London programme of capacity building events/activities that encourage and enable the achievement of the SDGs.
Responsibilities
- Working with colleagues across the group, create evidence-based thought leadership content, including an annual GEDU sustainability report;
- an annual report on trends in international education; and
- blogs and commentary for the GEDU website and social media channels.
- Direct the GEDU policy/advocacy and thought leadership events programme, including an annual international education conference and smaller sessions, e.g., roundtables.
- Monitor the Group\'s work on the SDGs, ensuring that we are able to communicate a holistic and positive showcase of activities and achievements;
- Maximise synergies and share best practice;
- Build and deepen effective relationships with external stakeholders related to sustainability and the SDGs;
- Actively engage on government and multi-lateral policy initiatives related to sustainability and the SDGs, particularly where there is an education dimension;
- With the MD and UNITAR HQ in Geneva, design and deliver an impactful programme of 12 capacity development activities CIFAL City of London will deliver every year;
- Ensure the effective functioning of CIFAL London, including management of the Advisory Board;
- Produce briefing documents, presentations, letters and other communication materials for internal and external audiences;
- Represent GEDU within industry, parliamentary and sustainability groups and discussions;
- Manage partners and suppliers, ensuring they deliver on time and budget;
- A strong understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals;
- A track record of using research and analytical expertise to produce outstanding thought leadership content, preferably on the SDGs and sustainability, blending evidence-based data with compelling storytelling and case studies;
- Experience of using thought leadership and insights to engage with influential online communities;
- Experience of conceptualising and directing the delivery of events, from webinars to roundtables to conferences;
- Excellent communication skills - oral and written;
- Meticulous attention to detail;
- Proven relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively in an organisation that has multiple business functions and locations across the world;
- Experience in crafting executive-level briefings and papers;
- Highly organised, able to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines;
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and comfortable working in a digital environment;
- Enthusiastic, flexible, and a collaborative team player.
