Global Head of Private Credit – Global Asset Manager

My client is a leading global asset management firm seeking a Global Head of Private Debt to lead the legal function supporting its sizeable and rapidly growing private credit business.

The role will work closely with the senior leadership and investment teams, taking ownership of the legal workstreams supporting the continued growth of the platform globally. You will lead a team of two lawyers, with scope to grow the function as the business continues to expand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fund launches & mandates: Lead and project-manage the legal workstreams for new fund and mandate launches across a broad range of structures and jurisdictions, including Luxembourg structures.
  • Credit transactions: Provide legal advice directly to investment teams on credit transactions, with a particular focus on infrastructure debt and ABS / asset-backed finance.
  • US distribution: Advise on the cross-border marketing and distribution of funds into the US.
  • Strategic projects: Support the business on strategic M&A, regulatory implementation and other initiatives arising from the continued growth of the platform.
  • Business partnership: Work closely with senior investment and commercial stakeholders, acting as a strategic legal partner to the business rather than operating purely as a technical legal adviser.
  • Team leadership: Lead and develop the existing legal team, with the opportunity to build out the function as the private credit platform continues to grow.

Ideal Profile

The opportunity would suit a 10+ PQE senior lawyer who combines strong technical expertise with a highly commercial mindset.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Training and experience within a leading fund formation or debt transactional practice at a top-tier law firm.
  • Significant experience advising on private credit and/or alternative investment structures.
  • Ideally, experience across a range of fund structures and jurisdictions, including Luxembourg.
  • Experience working directly with an investment business, either through a meaningful secondment or, preferably, in-house experience at a fund or asset manager.
  • The ability to operate across both funds and transactional matters, given the breadth of the role.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the credibility to work closely with senior investment professionals and business leaders.

This is a broad, high-impact role offering the opportunity to become a genuinely integral part of a growing global private credit platform and to take ownership of the legal function supporting its continued expansion.
