Hours: 42.75 hours per week between 7am and 4:30pm Monday to Thursday, 7am to 3:30pm Fridays plus 7am to 12pm Saturdays (on a rota basis), some bank holiday working is required.
The business
Global Ardour Recycling Limited are a national recycling and waste management business, operating sites nationwide to offer services to recycle scrap metal, scrap cars and much more. We’re industry leaders, developing ground-breaking Energy from Waste technologies. We’re also one of the country’s largest scrap car recyclers, processing up to 10,000 every month across our sites. At the heart of our business are our employees and to support the growth and development of everybody who works for us, we have developed a dedicated training facility that caters for all learning styles and supports the development of all employees.
The role:We’re looking for a multi-skilled operative with crane experience to join our small team in Bury.
Key Responsibilities:
- You will be required to serve trade customers and members of the public wishing to sell their scrap metal.
- You will grade the metals and enter weights onto the Weighbridge system via a tablet.
- When required, you will operate a 360 material handler with grab attachment to receive and sort ferrous metal loads.
- You will be responsible for loading baled and/or loose ferrous scrap into artic bulker trailers ensuring safe operation of the machine, maximum weights and efficient turnaround.
- Follow safe systems of work at all times.
- To work with and to adopt all Health and Safety procedures.
- To liaise with the Site Manager on a daily basis to determine work loads for the day. To inform management of any defects that may cause any item of equipment to be either unsafe or unroadworthy.
- To keep the yard clean and tidy.
- Any other duties as directed by the Site Manager.
- General yard operations & housekeeping duties
- Provide cover for other roles on site as required
- FLT Driving
- Manual work with heavy lifting involved
The ideal candidate:
- The ideal candidate will have experience driving plant machinery (360 grab / FLT)
- Have experience of the recycling or scrap metal industry.
- Enjoys working outdoors in a busy environment
- Reliable with a strong work ethic and demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Weighbridge experience is advantageous
