The Role: We’re looking for an experienced Class 1 Driver to join our Transport department based out of our site in Preston.
Requirements: You must have:
- Clean Class 1 driving licence, Driver CPC and a Digital Tacho card.
Responsibilities:
- Driving and operating a Class 1 low loader vehicle.
- Complete daily vehicle check sheets and defect reports as directed by the Transport Operations Manager.
- Observe all relevant driving laws and regulations.
- Loading / unloading and restraining mobile plant, static plant, machinery and commercial vehicles, including abnormal loads.
- Always provide good customer service (via telephone or face to face).
- Observe all health and safety requirements as directed.
- Always maintain tidiness and cleanliness as directed.
- Any other duties as directed by the Transport Operations Manager.
- Be willing and able to undertake up to 4 nights out (tramping) as required by the business.
Person Specification:
- You will have the ability to operate a mixed variety of trailer types.
- Car transport experience is desirable.
- Knowledge of driver’s hours and working time directive regulations. Use of Tachographs, digital and analogue.
- Smart & professional appearance.
- You will be one of the most important customer facing members of the organisation, so a professional approach to both the job and customers is essential.
- Strong work ethic.
- Ability to overcome problems.
- The ability to work both as part of a team and by yourself.
- Ability to plan the route to a job in the most time and fuel-efficient way.
- Clean driving licence, no more than 6 points.
- Driver CPC (or in the process of obtaining).
- FLT licence.
- Experience with heavy plant / licences for heavy plant.
