Main responsibilities:

  • The role as a Head of Balance Sheet and Internal Controls will focus mostly on balance sheet control and will work across all areas of the P&L.
  • This is a high level role and will focus on periodic testing of reconciliations, balance sheet end to end process development.
  • It will look at mapping and documenting processes and looking at where all the data sources are and how they flow.
  • It will look at 30/60/90 day items and ensuring the packs are put together for the regulated and non-regulated entities.
  • This individual will be getting the team ready for SOX compliance and internal controls upgrades.

Company Overview:

We are recruiting for a high growth fintech company that is based in the City of London. The business is private equity backed and is growing hugely, there is a lot of opportunity here. You will have strong balance sheet and internal controls experience and be used to presenting to senior management.

They are probably a couple of years away from being a US listed company, so in essence this role will work on the discovery phase with the other work being done by a Big 4 partner. They will work with many other country controllers to gather the right information. The role will manage one individual and have an upward progression path of taking on more and reaching a Senior Director level quickly.

Skills/Experience Needed:

  • ACCA/ACA qualified, having worked at a Financial Controller level.
  • The candidate must be able to do trend analysis and be able to open the ledger and look at issues.
  • You must have worked in a SOX environment before, have a strong bias in financial accounting and balance sheet control.
  • You will have worked in a regulated environment, FCA and be used to a high transactional environment.
  • You will have extensive process mapping skills and be used to adding technology in to enhance the finance team’s capability.
