GLL is looking for a Children’s Activity Instructor to work at the new Woolwich Waves. If you have the skills and ambition to join us as a Children’s Activity Instructor, there’s never been a more exciting time to join us. This is more than a coaching job, it’s a career.
As a Children’s Activity Instructor, you’ll be friendly and approachable as well as being imaginative, creative and a positive role model to the children that you supervise. This is a rare opportunity to work at GLL's flagship facility set to open this year. The new Woolwich Waves will be one of the largest flagship centres that GLL has operated.
Designed by the Britannia project team and at a cost of over £115m, the new centre will boast:
- Large leisure pool with flumes, toddler pool and a large wet play park
- 25m, 8-lane fitness pool
- 20m training pool
- Spa Experience with health suite and treatment rooms, all adjoining the training pool to give a true health club style spa experience
- 200-station gym over two floors
- Four studios – Group Cycle, Elevate, and two fitness studios
- 6-court sports hall
- Indoor 5-a-side 3G pitch
- Two squash courts
- Café
- Soft play and party rooms
- Creche
- Healthwise suite
- Meeting room
What you’ll do:
- Comply with the commitments outlined in the ‘Customer Charter’, ensuring that standards are maintained as stipulated
- Ensure that all brand compliance is followed
- Follow the legal requirements in line with Ofsted legislation
- Ensure you follow all relevant administration procedures
- Ensure that every child is given equality of opportunity and they are all included and supported
- Care of overs 8’s, does not adversely affect the care of the under 8’s
- Keeping all areas and equipment checked and cleaned as per the cleaning matrix
- Ensuring you deal, log and report to the Children Activity Supervisor all safeguarding issues
What you need:
- Appropriate professional qualifications or experience working with children 5 years plus.
- Qualified and trained to a minimum Level 2 in Child Care / Play work or a Level 2 coaching qualification, is desirable
- Good understanding of the characteristics and qualities that guardians expect from a childcare provision
- Knowledge of Ofsted Legislation
- Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation
- Knowledge of GLL Safeguarding Policies Procedures and Code of Conduct on Safer Working Practices.
- Suitable level of experience working with children under 8 or a relevant child care / play work qualification
- Experience of delivering an enabling environment whilst responding to children’s individual needs.
This is a flexible position. Hours of work will be negotiated with you in line with the needs of the service; flexible working may be possible. Working from home is not possible in this role.
