GLL is looking for Lead Swimming Teachers based at Carterton Leisure Centre. This role involves delivering safe, consistent swimming lessons that give people real confidence in the water and leading a team of teachers to achieve high standards. As an experienced swimming teacher, you will support people to reach their potential, taking each pupil’s nature and needs into account. You will use your knowledge of practice, progression and teaching points to guide and motivate your team.
Qualifications
- Approachable, friendly and patient nature needed to build trust, motivate pupils and encourage with praise.
- STA Level 2 or Swim England Level 2 qualified.
- Knowledge of health, safety and other relevant legislation.
- Understanding of Child Protection Policy.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a positive image of the Centre by providing a welcoming, helpful and professional poolside service.
- Ensure the safety and control of pupils within the swimming lesson and enforce all relevant regulations applicable to the Centre’s operation.
- Follow the Safeguarding Policy and Procedure & Behaviour policy contained within the Swim School product.
- Lead and motivate a team of teachers to deliver lessons in line with the product manual, ensuring a consistent approach throughout the Centre.
- Co‑ordinate teaching staff, managing registers, grouping swimmers and maintaining appropriate pupil‑to‑teacher ratios.
- Mentor, develop and guide your team and any newly qualified teachers, providing developmental and positive feedback.
- Attendance at Teacher Meetings and Training is required.
- Capture attendance accurately, monitor pupil progression and update records to support pupils in completing relevant awards to expected standards.
- Assist with new‑enrolments and re‑enrolments.
- Actively encourage pupils to enrol on further courses and short courses.
