The predicted salary is between 36076 - 36076 £ per year.

Location: Newham Leisure Centre

Contract: Permanent, 39 hours per week (Full time) – hours negotiable.

Salary: Up to £36,075.66 pro rata per annum.

Annual leave: 240 hours pro rata per annum.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a good and positive image of the centre to customers and the public by providing a welcoming, helpful, and professional service.
  • Assist customers with the use of the facilities and activities and encourage maximum use of the Centre.
  • Prepare areas and equipment for sessions as appropriate.
  • Control day‑to‑day operations and service efficiently, ensuring security, cleanliness, customer supervision, and equipment checks are maintained.
  • Ensure all pool safety/operating procedures are in place.
  • Maintain housekeeping systems and assist management to implement improvement plans for energy conservation and resource maximisation.
  • Supervise all staff on shift, allocating work and carrying out any other duties as required.
  • Ensure all team members are effectively supervised and that people‑management procedures (e.g. recruitment, absence reporting, qualification maintenance, appraisals, discipline, etc.) operate smoothly.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Can‑do attitude.
  • National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) with up‑to‑date training records.
  • Pool Plant Operator (PPO) certification or willingness to undertake training under unique circumstances.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, calm under pressure, and a natural ability to work with people from all walks of life.
  • Desirable experience in supervisory or management roles within leisure, sports, or community facilities.

Work Arrangements and Work-Life Balance

This is a full‑time position with a flexible working arrangement where possible; working from home is not possible. Hours will be negotiated to meet service needs.
