GLL is currently looking for swimming teachers based in the Lewisham Partnership. Join us as a swimming teacher and play a key role in developing our customers\’ swimming skills. This is your chance to deliver safe, consistent swimming lessons that give people real confidence in the water – and an invaluable life skill.

As an experienced swimming teacher, you’ll thrive on supporting people to achieve their potential, taking into account their nature and needs. Swimming teachers draw on their knowledge of practices, progression, and teaching points, applying it in the most effective way. There’ll be some administration involved, but almost all your time will be spent teaching people to become stronger swimmers, whether in a group or one-to-one, from children to adults.

We’re looking for swimming teachers who are approachable, friendly, and patient, with the ability to build trust, motivate pupils, and encourage progress with praise. You’ll need to be STA Award or Certificate level or Swim England Level 2 qualified, and ideally have the National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers & Coaches. Knowledge of health, safety, and relevant legislation, as well as an understanding of Child Protection Policy, will be vital.

What you will do:

  • Maintain a positive image of the Centre by providing a welcoming, helpful, and professional poolside service.
  • Comply with the ‘Customer Charter’ commitments, ensuring standards are maintained.
  • Ensure the safety and control of pupils during lessons and enforce relevant regulations.
  • Encourage pupils to enroll in further courses and short courses.
  • Assist with new enrollments and re-enrollments as required.
  • Follow the Safeguarding Policy & Behaviour Policy within the Swim School.
  • Record and complete relevant awards according to standards, ensuring levels are achieved.
  • Teach according to the product manual to ensure consistency across centres.
