We are a small London startup with the ambition to change education with ML-powered tutoring. Our flagship product is a mobile application for teaching English to intermediate and advanced learners. We’re on the verge of solving one of the biggest challenges in education – making high-quality, personalised learning accessible to everyone. We launched our app on iOS in February 2026, and we’re now looking for a Senior Android developer to lead development of an Android version and unlock a whole new user-base!

What you will do:

  • Lead the development of the Glite Android app from scratch.
  • Design and implement a high-scale Android app for millions of users.
  • Build convenient CI/CD processes and testing pipelines to support quick iterative development and app stability.
  • Research and make decisions about the Android technological stack and app architecture, considering all trade-offs.
  • Work closely with our ML team to integrate models into the mobile experience and build robust data pipelines.
  • Build features that work with large amounts of data in different modalities (text, video, images, audio).
  • Work in a very cross-functional team, side by side with our iOS and backend developers, product managers, ML engineers, and designers.

Essential skills:

  • Experience building high-quality Android applications from scratch.
  • Strong proficiency with Kotlin.
  • Deep experience with Jetpack Compose.
  • Strong knowledge of coroutines, multithreading and concurrency.
  • Requirements gathering & architecture planning (trade-off management).
  • Clean code practices.
  • CI/CD automation pipelines (GitHub Actions, CircleCI, etc.).
  • Best practices in consuming scalable mobile APIs (REST, etc.).

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working with Java.
  • Experience with iOS development (helpful for flexibility with features and priorities).
  • Currently speak, or learning to speak, more than one language.
  • Experience in developing educational products.
  • Knowledge-sharing experience (tech talks, articles, YouTube videos, etc.).

What we can offer:

  • A real-deal startup adventure: you'll be hopping on a major project while it’s still in the works!
  • Freedom to suggest, implement, and test ideas.
  • A crew all about people and products.
  • Competitive salary.
  • Unlimited learning & development budget - courses, books, conferences etc.

Interview Process:

Our interview process consists of an intro call, followed by 3 technical interviews. If these interviews are all successful, we’d like to offer 2-3 paid trial days, so you can work on a real project for our app and see what it’s like to work at Glite!

How to prepare for a job interview at Glite Tech

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Glite Tech uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
