We have an exciting opportunity for a Head Nurse at our busy, well-established hospital located in the beautiful North Downs and The Surrey Hills area. Our practice has a long history of providing exceptional patient and client care to our local community. We are currently seeking a Head Registered Veterinary Nurse to join us in our journey!

About the practice

Our fantastic nursing and support team includes qualified nurses, student nurses, and a dedicated receptionist. We are proud to be feline friendly, having been awarded the Gold Standard Cat-Friendly Clinic Award from the International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM). To support this, our practice features:

  • Separate cat and dog waiting rooms
  • Dedicated cat and dog wards
  • Separate consult rooms and isolation areas

The team is led by two partners:

  • The first partner has a certificate in Small Animal Surgery with expertise in all aspects of surgery including soft tissue and orthopaedics, radiography, analgesia, and rehabilitation following musculoskeletal disorders.
  • The second partner is currently working towards a certificate in Internal Medicine and has many years of experience with interests in medicine, ultrasonography, and endoscopy.

Our practice is equipped with:

  • A dental suite with dental x-ray
  • Full in-house lab with Idexx analysers
  • Endoscopic and laparoscopic equipment
  • Rhinoscopy
  • Digital x-ray and ultrasound

In the role you will:

  • Provide clinical leadership to the nursing team
  • Consistently deliver exceptional care to clients
  • Support with surgeries and procedures, completing all pre and post procedure activities
  • Lead, manage, and promote nurse-led appointments and Schedule 3 surgeries
  • Deliver patient monitoring and care
  • Manage admissions and discharges as directed by the Veterinary team
  • Dispense and check medication
  • Implement and comply with all regulatory, practice, and operational standards
  • Inspire your team, sharing new or evolving practice standards and changes to processes
  • Engage, coach, and develop your team
