We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Head Veterinary Nurse to join our team in Southampton, Hampshire. As part of our vibrant and growing veterinary practice, you will provide exceptional veterinary care to animals while working in a dynamic and collaborative environment. You will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their owners.

Location: Southampton, Hampshire

Working Hours: The position is 5 days a week and we will consider full and part time applicants, with 1 in 4 Saturday mornings. No OOH and no on call. This is a busy and varied role so you will be confident in your nursing and leadership skills. We are looking for someone who can lead under pressure to help run the day ensuring a high standard of patient and client care is upheld. You will use your nursing skills to their full potential including theatre work and nurse consults. You will have an interest and want to learn about the business as well as how to motivate a team to achieve their personal goals. Ideally you will have experience and enjoy coaching or mentoring students. Most importantly you must LOVE what you do.

Salary: Up to Β£35,000 DOE

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine examinations, diagnostics, and treatments on a variety of animals.
  • Conduct surgical procedures as needed, including spaying, neutering, and other minor surgeries.
  • Collaborate with veterinary nurses and support staff to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
  • Provide guidance and advice to pet owners on general care, feeding, and wellness.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient histories, treatments, and progress.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Veterinary degree from a recognized institution.
  • Valid veterinary license to practice in the UK.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
  • Compassionate and caring approach to animals.
