We are looking for a Head Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a small animal 24 hour hospital in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. Previous experience as a Head Nurse or working as an RVN in an animal hospital in some capacity would be preferred, but not essential. The role will involve all aspects of nursing as well as the day-to-day running of the practice. This position provides you with the opportunity to develop the practice and the team clinically with the Branch Partner.
As a Head Registered Veterinary Nurse you will be responsible for a variety of nursing duties as well as sharing best practice with your team and helping to support and develop the student nurses in your practice. You will manage a large team of Nurses and reception staff and all of our Head Nurses are provided with dedicated support from our Practice Manager and Branch Partner and Operations Director as needed. You will be working 40 hours per week with the standard 1 in 6 weekend shifts as well as a fair share of bank holiday and on call.
Salary: £32,500 to £33,800 per annum

Role Accountabilities:
- Provide clinical leadership to the nursing team.
- Consistently deliver exceptional care to your clients.
- Support with surgeries and procedures, completing all pre and post procedure activity.
- Lead, manage and promote nurse led appointments and Schedule 3 surgeries.
- Deliver patient monitoring and care.
- Manage admissions and discharges as directed by the Veterinary team.
- Complete patient transfers to out of hours or enhanced care.
- Dispense and check medication.
- Deliver professional excellence, implementing and complying with all regulatory, practice and operational standards.
- Inspire your team, sharing new or evolving practice standards and changes to processes.
- Engage, coach and develop your team.
- Pro-actively support and share clinical best practice.
Your Skills and Experience:
- RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse.
- Experience of delivering exceptional patient and client care.
- Able to confidently lead a clinical team.
- Experience of implementing a progressive clinical culture through nurse clinics and nurse consultations.
- Experienced in using coaching and influencing skills to get the best out of every colleague.
