We are seeking an experienced Locum Equine Veterinary Surgeon to join our practice in Sherborne, Dorset, from 4th October 2024 to 30th November 2024. This is a full-time locum position working five days per week, with on-call duties during the weekends. The ideal candidate will have strong equine veterinary experience and the ability to work independently while managing a varied caseload of equine clients.

Location: Sherborne, Dorset

Contract: Temporary (04/10/2024 to 30/11/2024)

Working Hours: 5 days per week

Shift Times: 08:30 - 18:00

Weekend On-Call: Required

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat a range of equine cases, including lameness, medical, and surgical cases.
  • Perform routine and emergency procedures in ambulatory and clinic settings.
  • Provide preventative care advice to clients and build strong relationships with them.
  • Respond to emergency calls and participate in the weekend on-call rota.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate medical records for all patients.

Requirements

  • MRCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon with experience in equine practice.
  • Strong clinical skills in equine diagnostics and treatment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible and reliable, with the ability to handle emergency situations.
  • Availability to work on-call during weekends as part of the rota.
