Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Locum Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join our friendly and supportive team in Reading. You will be part of a dedicated team of 2 RVNs, 3 SVNs, 2 VCAs, 3 vets, and 4 receptionists. This position offers a flexible shift pattern and the opportunity to work in a professional and welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care for patients, including pre and post-operative care.
- Assist veterinarians during consultations and surgeries, ensuring all necessary preparations are made.
- Support the veterinary team with diagnostic procedures and routine medical tasks.
- Administer medications, monitor patients, and maintain up-to-date clinical records.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners, providing advice on pet care and treatments.
- Ensure clinic cleanliness and organization, maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
- Participate in the 1:6 Saturday rota alongside 1 vet and 1 receptionist.
Qualifications and Skills
- Qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) with current registration with the RCVS.
- Proven experience in a veterinary practice, with strong clinical skills.
- Ability to work well within a team and independently when required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively across a variety of shifts.
