We are offering a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and motivated Head Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join our busy first-opinion GP surgery in South East London. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys clinical coaching, mentoring student nurses, and taking an active role in both the clinical and leadership aspects of a dynamic practice.

As the Head Veterinary Nurse, you will be responsible for leading and managing a strong team of nurses, Vets, Veterinary Care Assistants (VCAs), and receptionists. You will play a key role in maintaining the high standards of animal care we provide, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations, and fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse who is passionate about clinical development and team building. Our clinic, which features 3 Vets, sees a wide variety of cases, including emergency and critical care (ECC), providing a stimulating and challenging environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead, mentor, and support a team of nurses, student nurses, VCAs, and receptionists to ensure exceptional patient care and smooth daily operations.
- Supervise clinical coaching and training of student nurses, ensuring their development in line with RCVS standards.
- Collaborate closely with the team of veterinarians, providing support in surgeries, consultations, diagnostics, and patient care.
- Oversee the maintenance and use of our state-of-the-art equipment, ensuring the clinic continues to evolve with the latest veterinary practices and technologies.
- Participate in the clinical work, performing nurse consultations, monitoring anaesthetics, assisting in surgery, and managing in-patient care.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance with practice protocols.
- Work closely with the Customer Service Manager overseeing all three practices in the region to ensure client satisfaction and smooth practice operations.
- Play a key role in maintaining a positive, team-oriented environment, focusing on both the wellbeing of the staff and the animals under your care.
- Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) qualification with several years of experience in a clinical setting.
- Proven leadership experience or a desire to step into a management role within a busy practice.
- Strong mentoring and coaching skills, particularly in working with student nurses.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with the veterinary team and provide excellent client care.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a busy and varied caseload, including ECC.
- Passionate about animal welfare and delivering high-quality care.
- Willingness to embrace new technologies and contribute to the continuous improvement of the practice.
