Principle Objective
Reporting to the Forestry Manager, the Weighbridge Operator is responsible for the accurate and efficient management of all timber deliveries entering and leaving the site.
The role acts as a critical link between forestry operations, haulage providers, production teams and customers, ensuring the accurate recording of timber volumes, verification of product quality, and maintenance of operational data integrity.
The successful candidate will support the safe, efficient and compliant flow of raw material through the sawmill operation while delivering a professional service to drivers, contractors and colleagues.
- Knowledge & Experience
- Experience in an administration, logistics, transport, manufacturing or operational support environment.
- Experience working within a busy, fast-paced environment where accuracy is critical.
- Experience dealing with customers, suppliers, contractors or drivers.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel and Word.

Key Responsibilities
- Operate the site weighbridge in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Accurately process all incoming and outgoing timber deliveries.
- Produce, verify and distribute weighbridge tickets and associated documentation.
- Ensure all vehicle movements are recorded accurately within company systems.
- Maintain complete and accurate records of deliveries, collections and stock movements.
- Conduct visual inspections of incoming timber loads against agreed specifications.
- Identify and escalation quality concerns, discrepancies or non-conforming materials.
- Assist in maintaining traceability of timber products throughout the intake process.
- Support inventory accuracy through correct recording and documentation.
- Act as the first point of contact for timber hauliers, suppliers and visitors arriving on site.
- Coordinate vehicle movements with forestry, yard and production teams using radio and digital communication systems.
- Manage site traffic flow to minimise delays and maintain operational efficiency.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders regarding timber intake volumes and operational priorities.
- Input and maintain accurate operational data within weighbridge and timber management systems.
- Generate reports and provide administration support to forestry and production teams as required.
- Maintain filing systems and documentation in line with company procedures and audit requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives through the identification of process improvements and efficiencies.
