Overview
Job Title: Site Maintenance Person
Location: Vera James House, Ely, CB6 1TA
Contract Type: Full-Time – 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £28,000 – £30,000 per annum (depending on experience), call out at 1.5 x pro rata hourly rate
Monday to Friday, potential call-out for emergencies.

Situated in the heart of Ely, Vera James House is a 42-bed care home providing residential, dementia, respite, and end-of-life care. We are currently looking for a full-time Site Maintenance Person to join our team and help maintain a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for our residents and staff.
Your Role as Site Maintenance Person
As a Maintenance Person at Glenholme, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that the home remains in excellent working order inside and out. Your duties will include:
- Performing regular weekly compliance checks (fire alarms, emergency lighting, water testing, etc.)
- Carrying out general repairs, including basic plumbing, electrical, painting, and carpentry tasks
- Maintaining the grounds, garden areas, and external appearance of the home
- Managing maintenance stock and ensuring safety records are up to date
- Liaising with the Estates Manager and Home Manager for ongoing maintenance needs
- Occasionally supporting other local sites with maintenance work when required
- Being on-call for occasional facilities-related out-of-hours emergencies

What We’re Looking For
- Strong maintenance background in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or building trades
- Previous experience in a similar facility or maintenance role
- A keen eye for detail and commitment to high standards of presentation and safety
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
- A full UK driving licence is essential
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3, BTEC, City & Guilds) are highly desirable
- Health & Safety qualifications (e.g. NEBOSH, CITB) preferred but not essentia
