The Opportunity as a Kitchen Assistant

As a Kitchen Assistant at Glenholme Halmer Court, you will play a key role in supporting the Chef and wider kitchen team with all delegated kitchen duties. You will help maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food preparation while ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and staff.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Keep all areas of the kitchen clean and tidy at all times
- Wash and sanitise all kitchen equipment thoroughly
- Ensure the safe and economical use of food and kitchen materials
- Report any defects, damages, or breakages promptly to the Chef or Assistant Cook
- Assist with day-to-day kitchen operations, including preparing vegetables, sandwiches, and light meals
- Support with serving meals where required
- Clean kitchen and ancillary rooms thoroughly in line with cleaning schedules
- Follow infection control, COSHH, and food hygiene procedures at all times
- Support colleagues in other areas of the home when required
- Maintain a clean, professional, and presentable appearance at all times
What We Are Looking For
- Previous kitchen or catering experience is preferred but not essential
- A positive, reliable, and hardworking attitude
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and under direction
- Understanding of food hygiene and health & safety standards (training can be provided)
- Flexibility to work shifts as required by the service
