Glenholme Healthcare is looking for an experienced and passionate Registered Manager to lead Vera James House, our welcoming and well-established 42-bed residential care home in the historic city of Ely. This is an exciting opportunity for a strong and people-focused leader who is committed to delivering exceptional standards of care while creating a positive and supportive environment for both residents and staff.

Vera James House is a purpose-built residential care home situated within walking distance of Ely’s historic market town centre and famous cathedral. The home provides high-quality:

The Opportunity

We are looking for a proactive, motivated, and experienced Registered Manager who can confidently lead the service on a day-to-day basis while driving continuous improvement, high standards of care, and regulatory excellence. You will be responsible for ensuring the home operates safely, effectively, and in line with all CQC, legal, and organisational requirements. This role would suit someone who is passionate about dementia care, team development, and creating a positive culture where both residents and colleagues can thrive.

Key Responsibilities of a Registered Manager

  • Providing strong day-to-day leadership across the service
  • Ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and person-centred care
  • Managing staffing structures and rota efficiency
  • Supporting, mentoring, and developing staff teams
  • Leading recruitment, onboarding, induction, and retention processes
  • Maintaining compliance with CQC regulations and organisational policies
  • Monitoring quality assurance, audits, and service improvement plans
  • Building positive relationships with residents, relatives, healthcare professionals, and external agencies
  • Managing occupancy, staffing, and operational performance
  • Using electronic systems for care planning, rota management, training, and recruitment
  • Promoting a positive, inclusive, and professional working culture

What We Are Looking For

The successful candidate will have:

  • A Level 5 Leadership & Management qualification (or equivalent)
  • Previous experience as a Registered Manager within a care home environment
  • Experience supporting residents living with dementia
  • Strong knowledge of CQC standards and regulatory compliance
  • Experience leading, developing, and motivating staff teams
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A compassionate, professional, and person-centred approach
  • The ability to confidently manage operational and staffing responsibilities
  • A passion for delivering outstanding care and achieving positive outcomes
