As a Kitchen Assistant at Glenholme Halmer Court, you will play a key role in supporting the Chef and wider kitchen team with all delegated kitchen duties. You will help maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food preparation while ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and staff.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Keep all areas of the kitchen clean and tidy at all times
  • Wash and sanitise all kitchen equipment thoroughly
  • Ensure the safe and economical use of food and kitchen materials
  • Report any defects, damages, or breakages promptly to the Chef or Assistant Cook
  • Assist with day-to-day kitchen operations, including preparing vegetables, sandwiches, and light meals
  • Support with serving meals where required
  • Clean kitchen and ancillary rooms thoroughly in line with cleaning schedules
  • Follow infection control, COSHH, and food hygiene procedures at all times
  • Support colleagues in other areas of the home when required
  • Maintain a clean, professional, and presentable appearance at all times

What We Are Looking For

  • Previous kitchen or catering experience is preferred but not essential
  • A positive, reliable, and hardworking attitude
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently and under direction
  • Understanding of food hygiene and health & safety standards (training can be provided)
  • Flexibility to work shifts as required by the service

As this is a Bank position, you will provide cover for annual leave, sickness, and additional support, therefore shifts and working days will vary.
