Job Title:Part Time Book Keeper job share
Employer: Glendoick Garden Centre
Hours of Work: 20-21 hours per week
Reporting to:Senior Book Keeper, Directors
Job Description:As Book Keeper you will perform a range of general clerical, accounting and bookkeeping support functions to maintain the smooth running of the Glendoick Garden Centre
Your responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to:
Glendoick Nursery Accounts (Nominal codes within Garden Centre sage)
- Maintain nursery accounts and perform year end closure.
- Liaise with nursery regarding larger orders for payment, availability of products etc.
- Maintain accounting journals and ledgers and other financial records specific to the nursery
- Code & post income, expenses & payments for the nursery
- Pay suppliers invoices in a timely manner
Payroll
- Using SAGE 50 Payroll to pay monthly wages and pension contributions. (with other bookkeeper)
- Garden Centre Accounts Receivable Functions:
- Count daily till takings and prepare, co-ordinate and deposit monies into the Centres bank account
- Prepare cash sheets for garden centre income ready to enter onto SAGE
- Code & post income, expenses & payments
- Order, collect and ensure sufficient change is available at all times, including bank holidays etc.
Garden Centre Accounts Payable Functions:
- Check, verify and process invoices ensuring any discounts received are applied
- Pay suppliers invoices in a timely manner
- Sort, code and enter accounts payable data
- Analyse discrepancies and unpaid invoices
- General support functions
- Update, verify and maintain accounting journals and ledgers and other financial records
- Bank reconciliation.
- Assist in month end reporting procedures, reconciliations and compilation & submission of VAT return.
- Prepare reports as requested by Directors and Managers
- Perform filing and general administrative tasks to maintain an orderly accounting filing system
- Liaise with other departments/customers/suppliers etc. and fellow book-keeper
- Opening & distributing mail.
- Provide information to the external accountant
- It is expected that you will be flexible in your approach, will work as part of a team and that a professional standard is maintained at all times for the smooth running of the business.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting and book-keeping principles and procedures
