In detail, the position encompasses duties and responsibilities as follows:
- The ship operator will work as part of a global team and will be responsible for the efficient delivery of day-to-day operations of the ST Shipping and Transport fleet of oil tankers.
- Operators provide direct coverage for all vessels in the region and monitor vessels out of region operated by teams in other regions.
The ideal candidate possesses:
- Experience in collecting and submitting information, certificates, and questionnaires to assist in confirming the vesselβs future voyage(s) with external and internal charterers.
- Ability to work with operations brokers to obtain voyage orders for the vessel and pass them to the captain for execution.
- Experience dealing with local agents at all ports of call to ensure proper vessel attendance and port requirements are met.
- Skills in liaising with the ST bunker team to plan and supply the vessel with fuel at economical ports and prices.
- Capability to track the voyage PnL to ensure it is up to date and the vessel is earning projected revenue.
- Experience generating freight invoices, accruing, and invoicing for items such as port time, bunkers, costs, cargo heating, etc.
- Experience dealing with vessel owners regarding hire payments and off-hire payments to ST.
- Knowledge of monitoring the oil major approval status of vessels and ensuring regular inspections to maintain validity.
Skills:
- Educational background to degree level (or equivalent) as a minimum requirement.
- 3-5 years of experience as a ship operator.
- Sea-faring background is advantageous.
